Communication from the Commission - Non Discrimination
The Committee of the Regions endorses the renewed commitment of the Commission to present new proposals for implementing the principle of equal treatment between persons irrespective of religion or belief, disability, age or sexual orientation. The CoR supports the aims of the proposed Directive, to achieve full equality in practice for vulnerable groups in education, social protection, social benefits, and access to and supply of goods and services.

There was a glimmer of hope, a sense of courage and unity in the thousands of people who gathered in Valletta on Sunday evening carrying the national flag and banners expressing their opposition to rising cost of water, electricity and fuel bills unveiled by the government in the last couple of weeks.

that will be prepared by Claudette Abela Baldacchino in her capacity as Member of the ECOS COMISSION of Commitee of the Regions.
Again Claudette Abela Baldacchino General Secretary of Liedra will be rapporteur on this opinion. She will organize the informal meeting with the reprsentatives of the associations of local and regional level .
This first consultaton will be organized on 24 November 2008 at 2PM in the CoR and all interested parties are more than welcome to join the consultation meeting.
